Infosys Jaipur Development Center (DC) is conducting the fourth edition of Spark Catch Them Young (CTY), a two-week program aimed at exposing bright high-school students to the world of Information Technology. This decade long initiative by Infosys is designed to train Government and Private high school students through a summer vacation program at the Infosys’ campuses across the country. In order to ensure that students from high schools benefit from the program, the Spark Catch Them Young agenda is designed to focus on concepts relating to ICT and hands-on lab work. The courseware is aligned with World Skills IT competencies and the program focuses on opening a world of knowledge about computers to enhance the basic skill sets of these bright kids.
The first phase of the program was a written entrance test conducted in Infosys Jaipur campus. Of the eleven schools of Jaipur that participated in this entrance test, 24 students were selected on merit to take part in the second phase of the program. In the second phase of the training, students were introduced to topics ranging from simple concepts such as Microsoft Office to complex ones such as Python programming, MySQL Database, User Interface design, Computer security and privacy. The students are also being introduced to some cutting edge technology like bitcoins, blockchain, quantum computing and cloud computing. In addition to the technical activities, students also take part in soft-skills workshop, team-building sessions as well as some fun activities to showcase their creativity and knowledge.
Having started operations in 2006, the Infosys Jaipur Development Center (DC) employs over 2,100 employees in the 190 acres campus in Mahindra SEZ.
