Delhi has emerged as the preferred state for hiring in telecom and allied sectors, according to India Hiring Intent survey. As per the survey, Hiring intent in this sector is expected to increase from 16 to 20 percent in 2017.
India Hiring Intent survey is a part of India Skills Report 2017 is a joint initiative by PeopleStrong, a leading HR solutions and HR Technology company from India, Wheebox, a Global Talent Assessment Company, Linkedin, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Association of Indian University (AIU), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The survey further shared that the preferred age group for hiring in telecom and allied sectors is 22 to 25 years which shows a clear inclination towards young candidates. However, gender diversity is low, gender-wise percentage for males and females is 83.84% and 16.16% respectively. Another interesting thing reported was that even though the gender diversity is low, most of the companies do not have “women” hiring targets. And even for the companies who have kept these targets the number is as low as 10-15% of total hiring done.
Mr. Pankaj Bansal, Co-Founder and CEO, PeopleStrong, said “Telecom and allied sectors have been witnessing lot of action in the recent times, resulting in a positive hiring intent. It is interesting to see the interest of Telecom and allied industry employers in hiring from Delhi, it could be attributed to the availability of engineering and general graduate talent pool in this area or to the fact the many of telecom and allied industries are headquartered in Delhi NCR.”
