Onions have always been a contentious topic for both the government and the customers, and looks like the trend will remain so in the coming months. Predicting volatility in the coming months, Jugnoo, a go-to platform for all the hyper-local needs, is launching ‘The Great Indian Onion Sale’. Onions will be delivered at INR 1 per kg from 22nd October to 28th October from the Jugnoo app. The sale is slated to last for a period of seven days and conclude just before Diwali.
Speaking on the occasion, Samar Singla, Founder and CEO, Jugnoo said, “We Indians love onions. Given that delivering fruits and vegetables is relatively a newer vertical for Jugnoo, we decided that the best way to introduce the ‘No More Mandi’ experience to our users is by selling onions free of cost. There has been a lot of speculation about the onion prices in the recent weeks and hence we came up with the idea of ‘The Great Indian Onion Sale’.”
The offer will enable users in Chandigarh tricity to get 2 Kg of onions delivered in a single order. A user can place multiple orders during the 7 days. Jugnoo delivers cooked meals, fruits, vegetables and grocery using it’s 1000+ network of aggregated auto rickshaws. Given that same auto rickshaw network is also involved in taking customers from Point A to Point B, Jugnoo is able to keep delivery costs minimal and pass on the advantage to the end customers.
