1st ‘China-India’ Mobile Phone & Component Manufacturing Summit to focus on establishing Mobile Manufacturing in India


In a major boost to the “Make in India” initiative of PM Narendra Modi, the Indian Cellular Association (ICA), apex body representing the Mobile handset Industry in India in association with Mobile World (Shoujibao), China’s leading Mobile Industry service platform and tech media, is organizing a first of its kind “China-India Mobile phone and Component Manufacturing Summit” on 13th January, 2016 from 10 am – 6 pm, at hotel Pullman, Aerocity, New Delhi. The event is aimed at establishing a robust Mobile Manufacturing Eco-System in India.

“It is a well known fact that China is the Global leader in manufacturing of Mobile phones and its components and under the Make in India initiative of the Hon’ble Prime Minister we are deeply committed to establish a robust Mobile phones and component manufacturing eco-system in India over the coming years to establish India as the Global Manufacturing HUB for mobile phones and components.” Said Mr. Pankaj Mohindroo, National President, Indian Cellular Association (ICA) and Chairman -Fast Track Task Force (FTTF), set up by the GOI to promote mobile handset manufacturing eco-system in India.

“We are more than honoured to support the first ever China – India Mobile and Component Manufacturing Summit scheduled on 13th January 2016, being  attended by CEOs / Top management officials from 100+ Chinese firms representing the entire gamut of Mobile phone and Component ecosystem.”  Added Mr Mohindroo.

“Chinese companies are keen to participate in the 'Make in India' campaign and establish mobile handset & component manufacturing facilities here. I'm sure that the companies of both the countries will have ample opportunities to network and join hands during this Summit for promoting co-operation, which may usher in towards making investments in India. India contains a great opportunity for the Chinese Industry to be tapped” Said Mr Wu, Founder & CEO, Mobile World (Shoujibao), Shenzhen.

Apart from Senior Industry representations, the Summit will also witness participation of Senior Officials from the Government of India & State Governments, along with the Chinese Embassy, all major Stakeholders and the media.

Major Chinese players like Techno, Gionee, Coolpad, Holitech, Wingtech, Camera King, Galaxy Core, Poxiao, Vivo, Sprocomm, Nubia, ZTE, Meizu, Water World, Transsion, Huiye, Mafe, Obi, Sinwoo, Far-Sighted Mobile, Vikin, Miki, Sop, HuaLong, Wind-Mobi, Nuwei, Ramos, Huawei are expected to be part of the entourage which will explore opportunities to collaborate and may lead towards possible investments.

In addition to the Chinese companies, the  Indian Mobile Industry will be represented by major players like Micromax, Lava, Karbonn, Spice, Vodafone, Intex etc.
We at ICA envisage that the Chinese Industry’s entry into India at a mega scale would only be fulfilling the key dream for India to become the Global manufacturing hub for mobile phone industry and a great success for the “Make in India” vision of our Hon’ble PM, Modi ji.” Said Mr Mohindroo.

The possible enhanced co-operation between the Indian and Chinese Industry in the days to come and this 1st ever China-India Mobile phone and Component Manufacturing Summit scheduled for 13th January, is the fructification of the high level visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to China during May, 2015 and Government of India and ICA’s relentless outreach efforts across major ESDM destinations like China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, US etc.

The Fast Track Task Force (FTTF) was set up by the DeitY under the Chairmanship of Mr. Pankaj Mohindroo, National President, ICA to promote large scale mobile manufacturing activity in India. And the FTTF was tasked to fulfill the objective to achieve production target for 500 mn mobile phones by 2019 and generate employment for 15 lakhs people by 2019.

“This has been a matter of fact that, significant achievements have been made on the mobile manufacturing front during the past 6-8 months with many Global and Indian brands / EMS companies setting up their operations and many are in the process to do so. With the possible entry of Chinese companies into India in coming days / months, we are expected to enter into a significant phase in India’s mobile manufacturing history”, added Mr. Mohindroo.
