NEC Corporation announced the conclusion of a contract to provide security solutions for one of the world’s newest industrial port complexes at the port of Açu, Brazil. The “Industrial Complex Açu Port” is a Prumo Logística development, a private Brazilian company engaged in infrastructure and logistics. The port consists of two terminals (T1 and T2) located in São João da Barra, in the north of Rio de Janeiro state, approximately 120 km from the Campos Basin area, where the vast majority of Brazil’s oil is produced.
NEC is deploying integrated systems that simultaneously manage a CCTV system, access control equipment, and NEC’s iPASOLINK-based outdoor wireless network for the industrial complex. The system is expected to be operational by October this year.
“The logistics industry is one of the fastest growing trades in Brazil and it requires advanced technology to ensure reliable security,” said Daniel Mirabile, president of NEC in Brazil. “NEC has exceptional expertise in implementing these kinds of integrated systems, drawing on its extensive experience in developing smart city projects throughout the world, and we are proud to contribute to the safe operations of this leading port."
