Brocade expands SAN Footprint with Lenovo OEM Deal

Network solutions vendor, Brocade, has extended its OEM partnership with Lenovo allowing its Gen 5 Fibre Channel storage area networking (SAN) switches to be sold globally by Lenovo and its network of channel partners. The agreement builds on the strengths of the long-standing relationship Brocade shared with IBM, the IT giant whose x86 server business was acquired by Lenovo in Q4 2014.

As per the agreement, Brocade's Gen 5 Fibre Channel technology will also be embedded in Lenovo's x86-based servers and in the Lenovo S2200 and S3200 storage arrays. “Such OEM deals are well received by the channel as it gives partners the ability to present customers with fully integrated solutions from industry leaders. Both Lenovo and Brocade enjoy a strong position and recognition in the Middle East market. Backed by the assurance of complete testing and certification for interoperability, our combined technology offerings present a very attractive value proposition to enterprises,” said Yarob Sakhnini, regional director, MEMA at Brocade.

“Seamless interoperability with Brocade Gen 5 Fibre Channel SAN fabrics helps ensure trouble-free deployments that enhance the unique value delivered by our new storage arrays,” added  Kamran Amini, Executive Director, EBG Product Marketing, at Lenovo. He believes that this integration 'creates complete solutions that offer affordable innovation and unmatched performance to address the ever-demanding needs' of Lenovo's global customers.

Brocade Gen 5 Fibre Channel storage area networking (SAN) switches are now being sold globally by Lenovo and its network of channel partners. On its regional website, Lenovo currently lists availability for the Brocade 300, Brocade 6505, and Brocade 6510 Fiber Channel SAN switches which are positioned in the entry-level to mid-range category.

Brocade’s SAN switches deliver the industry’s highest levels of throughput that enable maximum application performance by eliminating network bottlenecks. These switches also include Brocade Fabric Vision technologies, which maximize uptime, dramatically simplify SAN deployment and management, while also providing unprecedented levels of visibility and insight into the storage network.
