Ashley Madison website hacked; CEO steps down

Information security has taken another toll as Noel Biderman, the chief executive of infidelity website Ashley Madison's parent Avid Life Media, leaves the company effective immediately. His exit has been caused by the hacking event. The website of the company was hacked which forced the CEO to move out as he did not take adequate steps to keep the cyber threats at bay in this hyper sensitive world.

"This change is in the best interest of the company and allows us to continue to provide support to our members and dedicated employees," the Canadian company issued the statement on Friday.

The lean side of the company was exposed this month when hackers leaked details of nearly 37 million clients of Ashley Madison. The event forced the company to put off the market listing. At the same time it is on the verge of facing a lawsuit of $750 million.

In recent times this is one of the biggest hacking event. The problem is that corporates are not learning anything from their peers and still keeping them exposed to hackers with minimum security layers. Sony hacking was yet another event that prompted the discussions. The companies need to focus on building up security groups that share information on regular basis about any leakages in the industry so that data in the cloud is secured.
