ALE Looks Towards India’s ‘Make-in-India’ Initiative

Support for the government of India’s ‘Make-in-India’ vision to transform the country into a hub for manufacturing and investment is a key focus in which Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise solutions for Communications and Network Infrastructure are pivotal. To date, strong ties in India have been established. Several projects have been led by the company and include Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise solutions, improving the communication experience in the country and providing jobs to employees across its offices in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi & Mumbai.

‘Make-in-India’ is a major new national program, designed to facilitate investment, foster innovation, enhance skill development, protect intellectual property and build best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure. "Come, make in India," Prime Minister Narendra Modi exhorted the world in his maiden Independence Day address, inviting global firms to set up manufacturing bases as part of his biggest push to address multiple economic problems including low employment creation, slow economic growth and high trade deficit.

Recently selected as the communications and networking solutions provider for the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) project by NewGen, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise solutions will play an important role in building the communication infrastructure for what is to be the world’s best smart city. The business is also involved in several other projects in India like Smart Metro Projects, Hospitality and Healthcare projects, which serve to develop India’s communication infrastructure to fulfil the country’s vision as a future-ready destination for businesses and investment.

As an advocate of the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative, ALE has established research and development infrastructure and customer support center in Bangalore and Chennai. These institutions are responsible for producing world class network infrastructure products for Data Center, Unified Campus LANs and Enterprise voice communications and house scientists, researchers, and Level-3 and Level-4 experts.

Michel Emelianoff, CEO, ALE, said, "India is an important market for our business and we are proud that a substantial part of our work force and solutions contribute or come from India. In line with the Indian government’s ‘Make-in-India’ vision, we have been proactively investing, building and providing advanced communication solutions in India. With our partners, we constantly discover new opportunities to enhance the personalized connected experience in India and will continue to wholeheartedly contribute and invest in this emerging market.”
