As part of its 10,000 start-ups initiative, The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Haryana State Electronic Development Corporation Limited (HARTRON), to set up a startup warehouse in Gurgaon. The MoU was signed in the presence of Hon’ble Shri. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister, Haryana, R. Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM, Shri. Devender Singh, IAS, Chairman and Principal Secretary to Govt., Haryana, Electronics & Information Technology Department and Nitin Seth, Managing Director & Country Head, Fidelity.
The first of its kind start-up warehouse is the Haryana is expected to be functional in the next three months accommodating close to 85 workstations initially and the occupancy will be expanded in a phased manner. The warehouse will be spread across the 16 acre HARTRON campus and will provide budding entrepreneurs facilities like broadband internet, workstations along with basic facilities like air conditioning to create an environment that is conducive to the new ideas.
Addressing the media, Hon’ble Shri. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister, Haryana, “This partnership is a step towards accomplishing the dream of Digital India. With this, our aim is to make Gurgaon as the IT hub of the state and solve the problems that Haryana is facing. This will also help generate employment opportunities and transform Gurgaon into the Smartest city.”
Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM while highlighting the attributes of the MoU said, “The aim of the 10,000 Startup program was to encourage young entrepreneurs to present their ideas and provide them with sufficient support to pursue their dream. Keeping this in mind, this warehouse in Gurgaon, we will be providing infrastructural support to not just IT based startups but also in the automobile, manufacturing and the mega data sectors. We are extremely excited to set-up this warehouse to evangelize innovation among entrepreneurs in Gurgaon and would like to thank the Government for all their support and cooperation.”
Talking about the MoU, Nitin Seth, Managing Director & Country Head, Fidelity, said, “Gurgaon has been famous as the BPO capital of the world. Our vision in NASSCOM Haryana is to now build Gurgaon to be the Innovation capital of the world. Today's MOU to set up a Start-Up Warehouse is a very significant step in that direction. I applaud the state government's show of intent. I am confident that with collaboration between the government and the industry we can achieve wonders."
NASSCOM’s 10,000 Startups Program is supported by Google, Microsoft, Intel, IBM, AWS and Kotak. The Warehouses, a NASSCOM 10,000 Startups Program initiative are set us across various cities in the country aims to capture the essence of entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of startups. The setup provides early stage technology start-ups with highly affordable co-working space conveniently located in the center of the city.
