Mumbai Airport and Vistara launch mobile phone boarding pass facility


GVK MIAL and Vistara announced the launch of mobile phone boarding pass facility for Vistara’s customers travelling out of Mumbai’s T2 terminal to New Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Goa. The first of its kind initiative by Mumbai Airport, helps provide Vistara’s customers a truly seamless travel experience.

The mobile boarding pass facility is also a time-saver for passengers and result in reduction in usage of paper boarding passes.  Overall, the mobile phone boarding pass facility will lead to another ‘Experience Simplicity’ feature while travelling through Mumbai Airport by Vistara.

Vistara’s customers making use of this facility for their travel from Mumbai T2 will only need to choose 'Get Mobile boarding pass/ Collect by SMS' option when checking-in online or on our mobile app.  The SMS from Vistara will contain the booking details and the link to access the mobile boarding pass. Customers are encouraged to take a screenshot of the mobile boarding pass, which is readable by the technologically advanced machines installed by Mumbai T2’s domestic departure level. Paper boarding passes are not required however customers would need to carry authorised photo ID as proof of identity.

·         Who can use a mobile boarding pass?
All passengers travelling from Mumbai Airport who have checked in through Vistara’s website and/or Vistara’s Mobile app can choose to receive a mobile boarding pass.
·         How can I issue one?
To receive a mobile boarding pass, you need a device with internet browsing and connectivity. Ensure your mobile plan includes mobile internet browsing as well as text messaging. Log on to our websitewww.airvistara.com or the Vistara mobile app and enter your travel PNR details. Enter your name and PNR details. Select your preferred seat and answer the following security questions. Click the "Get mobile boarding pass" option and enter the mobile number on which you would like to receive your boarding pass details. ·         Will this mobile boarding pass be accepted by CISF?
Yes it will. Vistara has worked with the Mumbai Airport and regulatory authority’s to ensure you are no longer required to present a paper boarding pass. Simply click the link to retrieve Mobile boarding pass, and then proceed to the security and boarding gates in order to enjoy the paper-less experience.
·         What if there is no internet connection, Wi-Fi, or no battery power on your phone?
Vistara ground staff will issue the traditional paper boarding pass at the check-in counter, security check, boarding gate or during boarding.
·         Can I issue mobile boarding passes for all my travel companions?
Yes, if your travel companion's itinerary is included in the same booking record as yours.
·         What should I do if I have problems receiving my mobile boarding pass?
If you fail to receive an SMS link to retrieve mobile boarding pass, you can login to our web Check-In page and try again any time up to 45 minutes before your flight departure time. If the problem still persists, you can go to any one of the Vistara check-in counters at the airport to pick up your boarding pass.
·         Can I change my seat after I have checked in online and received my mobile boarding pass?
Yes you can change your seat even after you have issued your mobile boarding pass but this is subject to the seat availability at the time of your request.
·         What happens if someone else picks up my mobile boarding pass and tries to use it to board the flight?
At the security check point, the CISF will match the customer name displayed on scanner with customer identity proof. Any discrepancies thus found will not be accepted and the customer will be advised to return to the check in counter to issue a traditional boarding pass.
·         What if your phone battery drains out after having issued your mobile boarding pass?
Vistara staff will assist the customer to re-issue paper boarding card.
·         What if after security check the mobile boarding link does not open?
Vistara staff will assist with a paper boarding card and CISF will stamp the boarding card after verifying the details.
·         What happens if a customer is carrying a restricted article in their hand baggage and has done a mobile check-in and proceeded toward security check?
The customer can either discard the article or the CISF will offload the customer from their system. In this case, the customer has to check-in again and will be issued a paper boarding card with a baggage stub.
