Debjani Ghosh has been named as the next president of MAIT. She has taken over from Amar Babu of Lenovo India who headed the association for a year. This is the first time that a woman has been made the MAIT president.
Debjani has got this opportunity to promote the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India. She has to show her leadership by working closely with government bodies and other associations to expedite the process of approvals for various electronics manufacturing projects in India. In addition, she has to take the duty-related issues with the government and work for solving them so that they don't hurt the industry anymore.
However, Debjani has joined the panel at a time when a lot is already taking place in the country in the electronics manufacturing space. It remains to be seen how she leads the association in India. Under her leadership, Intel is trying to register its footprint on the mobile front and datacenter front while the sales of PCs are hitting the bottoms.
