The IBM Business Analytics Lab was inaugurated by Dilpreet Singh, Vice President & Head HR, IBM India, Sunil Kant Munjal, Chancellor, BML Munjal University, and Professor G. Anandalingam, Dean, Imperial College Business School, at the BML Munjal University (BMU) campus in District Gurgaon, Haryana.
In this Lab, under the Career Education program, IBM is providing relevant software and training using various industry cases to the faculty members of BMU. The objective is to enable future business managers with the requisite skillsets to succeed in any business, industry or function they choose to be in.
On the occasion, Dilpreet Singh also addressed the faculty and students at the Institute and shared his perspective on the power of information and the use of software tools that are critical for smarter business outcomes. He also spoke about his concern on the skill scenario currently plaguing the industry and IBM’s commitment to bridging this gap by addressing the increasing need for multi-disciplinary skills by complementing the existing management and engineering education offering with Career Education courses.
Post the completion of the faculty development programs, the distinguished faculty members will train MBA students on Big Data and Descriptive Analytics to start with and soon proceed to topics on Predictive Analytics.
Starting the 2015 academic year, BMU has also launched an MBA program with specialisation in Business Analytics in association with IBM. The program has been developed with a strong industry orientation with curriculum inputs from IBM as well. This program will open up exciting career opportunities in Business Analytics and related areas for students.
Commenting on the collaboration with BMU, Mr. Dilpreet Singh said, “The Career Education Program is the perfect testimony to IBM’s continued commitment to software education and skills development in our country. This new generation of business managers equipped with best in-class analytical skills would bring greater value to this industry.”
The MBA programmes at BMU have been co-designed by BMU’s academic mentor Imperial College London, ranked 2nd in the latest QS World University Rankings. Commenting at the inauguration, Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Chancellor, BML Munjal University said, “Business Analytics is a growing field and is assuming huge worldwide importance. We have worked hard to formulate an MBA course that is relevant to India - one that allows BMU students to become capable managers of the future."
