Now,
there are reports that Twitter is after the US Justice Department in
the court. It is learnt that Twitter Inc has sued the US department
of justice on Tuesday. It was done when Twitter faced huge requests
from the US department of justice.
In
the
lawsuit, Twitter has accused that it had to take this step after
months of fruitless negotiations with the government. A newspaper
says that it “marks an escalation in the Internet industry's battle
over government gag orders on the nature and number of requests for
private user information.”
The
lawsuit is significant as it might usher into a new era of the free
internet.
The current rules prevent Twitter from even stating that it has not
received any national security requests for user information.
"This
is an important issue for anyone who believes in a strong First
Amendment, and we hope to be able to share our complete transparency
report," Twitter said in a blogpost.
