Facebook founder Zuckerberg arrives in Delhi, to meet Modi

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, has for the first time arrived in India. As reported earlier, this is another global CEO visit to India in recent time after Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was in Delhi last week. It is learnt that the Facebook founder is expected to meet Narendra Modi. While the global CEOs are hopeful of India growth, there can be significant announcements for the local market.

Like Microsoft announced last week that it would set up datacenters locally, Facebook might come up with a roadmap for this market. Since it is too early to say, we need to wait and watch the outcomes of the meetings between Zuckerberg and Modi.

One of the big engagements on his itinerary will be his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a keen supporter of social media as a means of reaching out to people. Perhaps this is the reason Zuckerberg seems India as a great market to invest further.

For the social network, India is the second-largest market outside the US in terms of users but one that generates little revenue. Zuckerberg would certainly be looking to correct that.
