Training course for prevention of sexual harassment at work in India

Skillsoft introduced its portfolio of elearning courseware focused on sexual harassment sensitization and prevention, customized for India. The new specialized elearning courseware will help organizations to sensitize employees about sexual harassment and its prevention, thus creating a more responsible and safer work environment.

The online course, suitable for employees across levels, introduces learners to sexual harassment prevention guidelines. It helps to identify and prevent sexual harassment at the workplace through scenario building and outlining of both corporate and employee personal liabilities arising from any such transgressions. The training helps employees recognize all actions and acts amounting to sexual harassment through real life situations and examples.

“The Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act of India mandates every organization to define their sexual harassment policies, prevention systems, procedures and service rules for employees. This courseware helps participants identify the various types of sexual harassment and recognize behaviors that may be considered inappropriate,” said Vinay Pradhan, Country Manager –India, Skillsoft. “The elearning module will help organizations educate employees on what is deemed sexually offensive conduct. This is an essential and important step towards the reduction of corporate liability as well as to maintain a professional work environment.”

The courseware is an interactive session with the lesson objectives divided into two phases: a) phase one discusses the types of sexual harassment and helps participants identify such inappropriate situations at the workplace through examples; b) phase two is focused on the course of action available to the victims of sexual harassment and also employer responsibilities in this area. The entire program has live situations and questions at regular intervals to check on comprehension and understanding by the participants.

This course was developed with subject matter support provided by the Labor, Employment, and Employee Benefits Law Group of the law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green PA and Skillsoft.
