Jivi, one of the players in feature phones, claims to break the
price barrier and has announced the launch and availability of Jivi
JSP 20, India’s lowest-priced Android smartphone, slimmest in 3.5”
segment as well, at Rs 1999 only. It is probably the lowest priced
Android smartphone in the world as well.
According to Pankaj Anand, CEO, Jivi Mobiles, “Prime Minister’s
Digital India program envisages citizens accessing e-services on
highly affordable mobile devices. We are supporting his vision of a
smartphone in every Indian’s hand by 2019 by shattering the price
barrier. However, a sub US$ 33 Android smartphone does not mean any
compromise on functionality whatsoever. This launch is bound to
trigger the largest conversion of feature-phone users to smartphone
users in the country. This is just a beginning. We intend to
introduce lowest-priced 3G, dual-core, quad-core and octa-core phones
as well in the days to come. In accordance with Prime Minister’s
vision of ‘Made in India’, we are considering setting up a
manufacturing facility as well in future. The economics are being
worked out. The intention is to reduce the electronics import bill of
the country in whatever little way we possibly can.”
Jivi JSP 20, the best value-for-money phone till date, scores
highest on price-performance comparison vis-à-vis the competition
and is available exclusively on Amazon.in. The online booking opens
today and users can pre-book the phone from 1:30 pm onwards.
Buyers placing order on Amazon.in during the 7 day long pre-booking
period (September 18 to September 24, 2014) shall be given an
attractive flip cover (MRP Rs 499) free which brings the effective
price of the phone down even further. Amazon.in shall start
delivering JSP 20 from September 25, 2014 onwards.
“We are excited to partner with Jivi Mobiles and provide an easy
& convenient access to the Jivi JSP 20 smartphone to customers
across India. This aligns with our vision of building a place where
customers can find, discover & buy anything that they desire to
buy online,” said Mr. Samir Kumar, Director Category Management,
Amazon India.
“It is the only phone in its segment to have an OGS (One Glass
Solution) display wherein one of the glass layers in the capacitive
touchscreen stack gets replaced by thin insulating material, Indium
Tin Oxide, a rare metal, reducing its thickness. What’s more, it’s
not just light on pocket but in weight as well- measuring just 95
grams,” informs Mr. Anand.
Besides the 3.5” (8.89 cm) full capacitive touchscreen that
displays bright andvivid colours (320 x 480 pixels) bringing
images and videos to life, it has a 1GHz processor that enables
multitasking. It allows you to experience your favourite games, apps
etc., at blazing speeds and the navigation seems as smooth as silk.
The phone has inherent advantages of the Android OS platform. It’s
the most acceptable platform in the world with maximum apps developed
for it. What’s more, it runs well what you'd wish to run on it the
most – WhatsApp, Facebook & YouTube. Jivi JSP 20 supports six
languages for messaging – English, French, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and
Urdu.
The Jivi JSP 2o comes with support for two SIM cards which enables
you to customize plans from different operators to suit your voice
and data usage. You can have two separate connections without the
hassle of carrying two phones. One can access Internet through
WiFi and enjoy the contactless freedom suited to your digital
lifestyle. It also supports 2G, EDGE & GPRS and
files can be exchanged through Bluetooth connectivity.
When it comes to aesthetics, this phone is a sheer delight for it
has brushed metal finish on the sides, chrome plated side-rail
buttons and round edges at the bottom. For those who want sound
to percolate out loud and clear, there is a laser-cut precision
drilled speaker grill at the rear. Not to forget the 2.0 MP
camera with LED flash which results in decent pictures even in low
light conditions. The phone comes pre-loaded with LED torch
flashlight widget and shortcuts on home screen for music player,
WiFi, Bluetooth, data sync and brightness. The lock screen displays
messages received to enable direct access with a single touch.
