The analytics segment of Rediff Labs has launched a tool that analyses data from over 30,000 news outlets to identify celebrities that are trending in the news.
This analysis is presented in a live infographics which allows the user to easily tap in to who is trending on a daily basis; which in turn gets plotted on a weekly timeframe.
Currently, Alia Bhatt is the most trending celebrity and has overtaken the likes of Madhuri Dixit, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan & Farhan Akhtar who form the the other trending celebs buzzing this week.

Rediff’s algorithm analyses data from over 30,000 news outlets daily. Stanford Named Entity Recognition (NER) tool is applied to this news data to identify named entities being covered in news each day. Statistical Entity Model* (an extention of LDA) is then used to identify the most buzzing named entities. Every day's top celebrities (named entities from entertainment news) for the last seven days are presented in the interactive animated graph.
