It is less than four days when Facebook bought WhatsApp and its service is badly hit by downtime. Users have complained of the service being hit. While the deal is an unprecedented one, a number of expert and peers have raised brows over so hefty a premium. What's wrong with the service in so less a time? The popular messaging service has created uproars in the global market and forced biggies such as Google and others to think about their strategy around innovative apps such as WhatsApp.
There are rumours that Google tried to stop the deal from happening but could not prevent. It is also learnt that Google was ready to pay more than 19 billion dollars for acquiring the app. However, the move did not work. But it is Google which earlier lost opportunity to buy WhatsApp for mere one billion. But it was not ready to pay it at that time. Now when it has gone to a rival, its eyes are open on the fact what it has lost.
However, I'm doubtful whether it is a smart move or not. In The Data Driver's opinion, it is not a good deal and Facebook has perhaps signed its death warrant by acquiring this service. But only time will tell on the repercussions.
