You may have faced instances when you were unfriended on Facebook or
unfollowed on Twitter. How did you take these instances? You may have
taken it casually and moved ahead but this kind of instance with a
Bihar youth amounts to a dangerous and despicable incidence. Recently
a Bihar boy threw boiling water on the face of a girl who studies in
eighth standard only because she had unfriended him on Facebook.
The 15-year-old girl suffered 20% burns on her face and is being treated at a hospital in Muzaffarpur district. In her statement to the police, she mentioned that the accused came to their house in Gannipur locality in Muzaffarpur on Wednesday afternoon on the pretext that he was looking for his lost identity card. He then poured boiling water on the victim’s face and shoved aside her mother.
In a news published in a local newspaper, the
girl said, "My father is a teacher and he (the accused) used to
come for tuition to our home. I accepted his (Facebook) friend
request a year ago because I found him decent then. But recently he'd
become abusive. And I decided to unfriend him on Facebook.".

This is a case of virtual world crimes, especially the younger generation needs to understand the implications of their steps. Perhaps there has to be education for kids to deal with situations like this. This is not the first instance where a crime has arisen from Facebook or Twitter. But the numbers are increasing daily.
