Will India replace the US as Facebook's #1 market in a matter of months?

Facebook has started achieving success in emerging markets and the results have started surfacing as Jana CEO Nathan Eagle has predicted that in a matter of few months India is set to surpass the US and become Facebook's largest market in the world.

There are forecasts that Facebook can also get the most revenues from emerging markets than the US by 2015. If this happens this would be a huge shift. It would impact India positively since a lot of advertising revenue will flow into Facebook by marketers in India. However, it will challenge Google's supremacy in the advertising domain.

India at present has just over 30 million Facebook users short of the US, but is growing at closer to 40 million users a year, nearly eight times the rate of the US. The social network has gone deeper as more and more internet users join the fray. Plus the internet penetration is helping a lot of internet companies in the local market to capitalize. A range of smartphones are giving options to users to use the internet on their handsets at cheaper rates.
