E-governance to Cover 90% of Delhi Government Services

In the past few years under the Delhi has made significant improvements in offering citizen services, boasts a press release shared by pro-Congress group today. It further claims that soon e-governance is likely to cover 90% of Delhi government services. This will provide huge benefits to the citizens of Delhi.

Some of the key initiatives of the Delhi government so far include:

Bhagidari

-- A movement to involve citizens through RWAs with Delhi Government

-- Revolutionary step - nowhere else in India

-- Officers have learnt to work with citizens, and citizens have understood their challenges

-- 6910 RWAs and citizen groups registered in Delhi (2012)

-- 5000 Joint projects handled in 114 Bhagidari workshops

-- The "My Delhi- I care" fund has increased to Rs 45 crore - a fund for RWAs and their needs

-- Peoples participation in Governance - The number of citizen groups voluntarily associated with Bhagidari has risen from 20 citizen groups in 2000 to nearly 7000 in 2012

-- Environment and Conservation of Water - Delhi's green cover area has increased 7 times in the past 10 years

-- Improving quality of Education - Remarkable improvement in the Class X and Class XII results of Government School of Delhi conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education

Govt. of India, 2001 - Bhagidari scheme recognized by Govt. of India. It sponsored Bhagidari Documentation and recommended its implementation in other States.
